Issue Details

  • I have a Single-Board RIO (sbRIO) or CompactRIO (cRIO) controller which only officially supports Secure Digital (SD) cards with a capacity of up to 32 GB. I want to swap in a larger SD card - will this work?

Solution

cRIOs and sbRIOs will generally support SD cards that use the SD or SDHC standard. The maximum capacity of an SD card using the SDHC standard is capped at 32GB (SD is capped at 2GB).

While it is technically possible to use a higher capacity SD card that uses either the SDXC or SDUC Standards, this requires extensive Linux knowledge and additional Microsoft licensing as SDCX and SDUC rely on a proprietary Microsoft file system. Since this is not something NI will be able to support, it is highly recommended to use a supported SD card.
