1. Download the required NI Linux RT System Image from
NI Linux RT System Image Download Page or the NI Package Manager.

2. Expand your cRIO device on NI MAX, right-click on
Software and select
Add/Remove Software.

3. If the option appears, click on the cog icon next to
Base System Image to bring up a list of the available Base Images you can apply.

4. Now the NI Linux RT Image should appear in the available Base Images, select the NI Linux RT Image to apply and click
OK.
5. Click
Format to apply the selected Image and wait for the process to finish.

6. Once the process is finished you can close the window and continue to install the needed software for your target from NI MAX.
