Issue Details

When using the Get Measurement Period with my PXI-4071 DMM, I notice the following behaviors:
  • The DMM seems to be using a longer measurement period than what is indicated by the Get Measurement Period function.
  • The value of my measurement period returned by the Get Measurement Period function changes depending on whether or not I configure a Trigger Source other than Immediate.
  • The measurement period returned by the Get Measurement Period function appears to be less than what I expected based on default Settling and Aperture Times

Solution

This behavior is a known bug where the Get Measurement Period function fails to include the Settling Time in its output. Note that the DMM will still use its default settling time during operation. As a workaround, NI suggests manually configuring your settling time before calling the Get Measurement Period function. This will guarantee that the Settling Time is correctly accounted for. You must set a positive value to use this workaround as opposed to entering a "-1" to indicate that the driver should automatically select the default value-- entering a "-1" will cause the same behavior discussed above.
