How to Rename Workspace and Project Files in Teststand

Updated Jun 12, 2023

Teststand workspace is a place for you to organize and access development files. When developing Teststand files, having a workspace will make it easier for you to keep track of the files that you are using together with the project files.

This article will be focusing on the method to rename a workspace and for it to be reflected in the windows directory. If you rename the workspace or project files in the workspace, the name will not overwrite your original file. As mentioned in the help file of Teststand, Rename function here is to change the name shown in the dialog box, not to create new files with new names.

  • The first way is that you can rename a workspace as a new file, by selecting Files > save .tsw file as.

  • To rename the Project file, you can create duplicate from your windows directory, or  insert them as new project in the workspace.
    1. Insert a new Project into workspace

    2. Copy the sequence file and paste into the newly created project.

  • If you are only planning to rename the sequence file to be either in the same project files or a different one, create a duplicate in the windows directory and add them to the workspace.
