Issue Details

  • I have created a UI on my LabVIEW™ Front Panel but every time I turn my monitor off and back on, the UI resolution changes. What is causing this?
  • I am using a HP Z24, Z27 or Z30 monitor to display my LabVIEW UI, but the resolution keeps changing after a power cycle. The UI displays correctly on other monitors. How can I resolve this?
  • I have created an Embedded UI for my Linux Real-Time controller and connected it to a monitor using a DisplayPort. The entire UI becomes very small after the monitor is switched on and off. Is there a way to prevent this?

Solution

This problem is caused by the Source Detection or DP Hot-Plug Detection mode on the HP Z Monitor. To resolve this, follow the steps below:
  1. Verify that the latest graphics card driver is installed.
    • Refer to the monitor manufacturer's website for driver downloads.
  2. Change the monitor's Source Detection mode to Always Active.
  3. Change the monitor's DP Hot-Plug Detection mode to Always Active.
    • When the monitor is using Low Power mode, the monitor scales the LabVIEW UI to the lowest setting.
Note: Refer to Advisory: HP Displays- Display Does Not Wake Up Due to DisplayPort Detection Issue on the HP Inc. website for guidance on how to change these settings.

Additional Information

If your monitor is not manufactured by HP Inc., or does not come with DisplayPort Hot Plug Detection, the following options are available:
  1. If using an Embedded UI on a Linux Real-Time target, follow the steps in Changing Embedded UI Resolution from the Linux Command Line.
  2. For UIs on Windows, refer to Change the Size of a Front Panel for a New Monitor.
