Error -2147418113 Catastrophic Failure With LabVIEW Connectivity Toolkit

Issue Details

  • I have a LabVIEW application that makes use of the LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolkit, when I run my code, I get this error:
Error -2147418113 occurred at NI_Database_API.lvlib:DB Tools Open Connec (String).vi->SQL 64b Search.vi. Possible reason(s): LabVIEW: (Hex 0x8000FFFF) Catastrophic failure.
  • Sometimes the issue appears only on the second run of the code.
  • The issue only appears in LabVIEW 64-bit, but not LabVIEW 32-bit.
 
  • LabVIEW is crashing when I run a VI that uses the Database Connectivity Toolkit:

Exception: Access Violation (0xC0000005) at EIP 0x00007FFDA45B1111
Version: 21.0 (64-bit)

Possible Cause C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2021\vi.lib\addons\database\Connection.llb\DB Tools Open Connec (String).vi.

Solution

This issue can occur with certain versions of Microsoft Office or the Microsoft Access Database Engine installed. To try to resolve this issue: 
  • Make sure you using Office 365 64-bit when using LabVIEW 64-bit, not Office 2016 64-bit.
  • If you are using the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 version, try using the 2010 version instead.
