Issue Details

I have run into a problem where I cannot see or adjust camera properties (both GigE and USB cameras) on some of my computers in our lab. The camera(s) show up in the list of devices in NI-MAX, but snap, grab, the tabs for adjusting properties, etc. are missing/not available.
How can I fix this?

Solution

This issue occurs due to the NI installer basically only installing the runtime version of IMAQdx, which does not include configuration abilities in MAX.
To resolve this issue, please install the full IMAQdx driver instead of IMAQdx Runtime.
To download this driver, download the Vision Acquisition Software (VAS) package. VAS includes NI-IMAQ, NI-IMAQdx, and NI-IMAQ I/O driver sets that serve different vision application purposes. After running the VAS installer, you will be given the option to choose which of the drivers you want to install.

Additional Information

In case you have the full IMAQdx driver installed on your machine and the issue still persists, try to uninstall and reinstall the original driver of the camera.
Also not only to install the full version of Vision Acquisition Software (VAS) but change the driver for the camera in NI-MAX back to the original (IDS) one, and then change it back to the NI-IMAQdx driver from within NI-MAX.
Based on customer experiences that appear to then correctly load up all the drivers and pointers, and gives you configuration information, etc, and a test panel for the camera.
