Issue Details

I am using NI PXIe-6570 or PXIe-6571 on NI Digital Pattern Editor (DPE). The device is recognized correctly on NI MAX, and the devices could be used without issue on DPE until recently, but this error appeared on DPE today. How can I resolve this issue?

Solution

This error can occur due to a corrupt NI MAX database. Please try the following method first in order to have your PXIe-6570/1 recognized without the error.
  1. Shutdown the PXI chassis.
  2. Remove the PXIe-6570/1 from the PXI chassis
  3. Turn the PXI on and open NI MAX
  4. Open Devices and Interface on NI MAX, and have NI MAX recognize the PXI chassis without the NI Digital Pattern Instrument
  5. Shutdown the PXI chassis again
  6. Re-insert the PXIe-6570/1 into the PXI chassis
  7. Turn the PXI on and open NI MAX
  8. Open Devices and Interface on NI MAX, and have NI MAX recognize the PXI chassis with the NI Digital Pattern Instrument
  9. Test if the error occurs with DPE or LabVIEW

If the method above does not solve this issue, reset your NI MAX database. The instruction for resetting the NI MAX database can be found in the article below.

Please make sure to back up your database if you have set NI-DAQmx tasks, channels, custom scales, etc. If resetting the NI MAX database does not solve the issue, uninstall and reinstall the NI Digital Pattern driver.

Additional Information

This error could occur periodically if you rapidly open and close NI Digital Pattern sessions in your LabVIEW/.NET program. The issue is also reported when the NI Digital Pattern Instrument is used with Thunderbolt3 connection. If you are using PXIe-8301 and you connect it with your PC via Thunderbolt3, make sure to use the NI genuine Thunderbolt3 cable .
