Connecting to Remote Ethernet CompactDAQ Chassis from NI MAX

With the introduction of ethernet CompactDAQ (cDAQ) chassis, users can now share their hardware setup to anyone anytime at anywhere. User is no longer needed to physically at the location, disconnect the hardware setup and passing to other user so others can setup and use the hardware again. With ethernet cDAQ chassis, everyone within the network can now share and use the hardware setup simply by using an IP address!

This article will share how the user can connect to the remote ethernet cDAQ chassis from their NI MAX software.

  1. Obtain the IP address of the ethernet cDAQ chassis and ensure you are connected to network that can reach the hardware itself.
  2. Launch NI MAX software.
  3. Go to My System >> Devices and Interfaces and right-click Network Devices.
  4. Select Find Network NI-DAQmx Devices.
  5. Enter IP address obtained in Step 1 in the Add Device Manually as illustrated by the image below and click Add button next to it.

  6. A new device will now be visible under Available Devices list with a tick next to it. Click Add Selected Devices.
  7. Once done, the device will now can be accessed at My System >> Devices and Interfaces >> Remote Devices after you reserve it.
