Issue Details

I am unable to see our PXIe-7962R in our PXI chassis. The configuration is a PXIe-1092 Chassis with a PXIe-8861 Embedded Controller running NI Linux Real-Time (RT).

The remote system can be seen and is identified as 'Connected - Running'. Under Devices and Interfaces, the chassis is also seen as "NI PXIe-1092 "PXICHassis1". Under it, the embedded controller can be seen as '1: PXIe-8861 "NI-PXIe-8861-03226F77".

It looks like the PXIe-7962R is coming up but as /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:15:00.0.

I verify that all the drivers are compatible, what I'm missing?

Solution

Not all NI hardware is compatible with Linux Real-Time.

The article NI Linux Real-Time Operating System PXI Hardware Support has a list of all the hardware that is supported in NI Linux Real-Time.

This is a hardware limitation thus a replacement for a module compatible with NI Linux Real-Time is required.

Additional Information

For Real-Time Operative Systems (RTOS) currently, we have migration options for Phar Lap (end of life 2025) to Linux and different hardware options that can sustain similar capabilities to newer and supported modules.
