Issue Details

I'm trying to install software onto my NI real-time target, such as a cRIO.
I have connected my real-time target to my PC and I can see it in NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) under Remote Systems.
When I can open the Software tab for my target and right-click to select Add/Remove Software and select a system image (such as Linux RT System Image 21) and click OK I immediately get an error message:
One or more software set items could not be found in the repository
How do I resolve this?

Solution

This error message occurs when you are trying to install software onto your offline NI real-time target running Linux, but you do not have the NI Linux Real-Time Offline Installation Support installed for the version of the NI Linux RT System Image you have selected.

The quickest solution, if possible for you, is to connect the host PC to the internet and try again. NI MAX will then find and use the online repository where NI stores the feeds for the software.

If connecting the host PC to the internet is not possible for you, this problem can still be resolved. You will need to install the NI Linux Real-Time Offline Installation Support that matches the NI Linux RT System Image you intend to use. As your host PC is not connected to the internet, download the package on another computer using the INSTALL OFFLINE button. Then copy the package to your host PC and install it.

Full details on how to install software onto your offline NI real-time Linux target can be found at Installing Software to Offline NI Linux Real-Time Targets.

Another possible reason for the error to occur is that the host PC has software corruption. You may check the BIOS system on the Linux RT target. Make sure that the firmware version is the latest and matches the firmware that has been released by NI. If you could not update the firmware successfully, reimage the OS could possibly help resolve the issue.
