Unable to Complete Activation Message When Opening LabVIEW

Issue Details

  • I recently updated NI License Manager to its latest version, since then when I open LabVIEW or any other licensed NI software I receive a pop-up window saying Unable to complete activation and the error code is General license error.
  • I can connect to a license server, LabVIEW is licensed (green) but when I open it a message pops up saying Unable to complete activation and the error code is General license error.

Solution

This error occurs because of the incompatibility between NI License Manager runs on the client and the NI Volume License Manager runs on the license server. From version 20.7 NI License Manager is only compatible with NI Volume License Manager version 3.2.2 or newer. 
To fix it please contact your software administrator to check the version of the NI Volume License Manager on the server and upgrade if necessary to its latest version (preferably version 3.3 or newer).
