Issue Details

Can "20000 word" data be transferred to and received from the PC in 5 seconds using NI USB-7845R? The two DMA channels of the module will be used.

Solution

According NI USB-7845 Specifications, the device uses a USB 2.0 bus interface which is capable of transferring up to 480 MB/s. "20000 word" in 5 seconds amounts to 64 kB/s, therefore the device will be able to transfer that.

Additional Information

Even though the USB 2.0 bus is capable of transferring 480MB/s data this is the theoretical limit and taking into account the fact that USB is not a deterministic data communication protocol the transfer rate might slip back and forth based on CPU's load. And working on the edge of the theoretical limits is highly not recommended and results can be unpredictable.
