Issue Details

I'm trying to develop an instrument driver for my application using the LabVIEW Instrument Driver Development Studio. I installed the latest version of the Instrument Driver Development Studio, but am getting the below error indicating that the Instrument Driver Development Studio cannot run LabVIEW. What are some potential causes of this error?

Solution

Like the error states, the first two troubleshooting steps you should try to address this error are:
  1. Ensure that you can open and use your installed version of LabVIEW correctly, and try reinstalling LabVIEW to ensure that it installed correctly on your machine.
  2. Run LabVIEW as an administrator when opening it and the LabVIEW Instrument Driver Development Studio, or use a Windows account with administrator privileges when using the Instrument Driver Development Studio addon.
If the issue persists after trying these two steps, check to see what version of LabVIEW you have installed on your computer. The newest version of LabVIEW that the LabVIEW Instrument Driver Development Studio is compatible with is LabVIEW 2019 SP1, so if you're using LabVIEW 2020 or newer the Instrument Driver Development Studio will not correctly detect LabVIEW and will throw a connection error.
