Solution

After receiving a timeout error, first of all, there is a need to check NI VST Access and Active LEDs and do an instrument Self-Test in MAX (Open MAX->Select Device->Click Self Test From Toolbar).

If the Access LED is green, i.e. the device is controllable through the software and the Self-Test output is successful like in the screenshot above the second step is to check the fan speed.

Following steps are required:

  1. Unplug the VST module
  2. Put the fun speed of NI chassis from Auto to High
  3. Let the module and chassis cool down
  4. Test again with High fan speed
