Issue Details

I have a KUNBUS DF PROFI II PCI/PXI PROFIBUS card installed in my computer, and have installed the PROFIBUS for PCI/PXI drivers, but cannot see my card in NI MAX. When I try to update the device drivers or inspect the device properties in Windows Device Manager, I see the following error:

"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. A service installation section in this INF is invalid."

Solution

This error occurs when NI-VISA 4.2 or earlier is not installed on the system you are trying to use your PROFIBUS card in. The PROFIBUS for PCI/PXI drivers require that NI-VISA 4.2 or earlier is installed on your system before your card can be detected, as the drivers are built on top of NI-VISA. You will need to:
  1. uninstall your PROFIBUS for PCI/PXI drivers
  2.  download and install the latest version of the NI VISA drivers compatible with your system, and
  3. Reinstall the PROFIBUS for PCI/PXI drivers. Please refer to the “Comsoft” DF PROFI II Installation and MAX Configuration for additional information about setting up your PROFIBUS PCI/PXI board.
Once you've completed the reinstall, you will be able to see and utilize your card in NI MAX.
