TestStand File Diff and Merge Utility Hangs

Issue Details

  • The TestStand File Diff and Merge Utility will hang while executing, and the sequence file comparison will never complete.
  • When using the TestStand File Diff and Merge Utility, the "Diffing Status" window will appear but not load.
  • I aborted my sequence file before it could complete, and now the File Diff and Merge Utility won't execute properly

Solution

The FileDiff ini may have become corrupted and should be recreated by following steps below.
  1. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\<TestStand XXXX>\Cfg\FileDiffer.ini, where <TestStand XXXX> is the version of TestStand you have. 
  2. Rename ini file FileDiffer.ini to something else, such as FileDifferOld.ini.
  3. Execute the File Diff function again to regenerate the FileDiffer.ini file again.
