PXI-6683 Grayed Out in PXI Advisor

Issue Details

I'm choosing the the PXI system using PXI Advisor. I want to use the PXI-6683 timing and synchronization module to get local time and coordinates. When I select PXIe chassis(such as PXIe-1071), the PXI-6683 is grayed out. Why can't I select this combination? 

Solution

Because PXI-6683 is developed before PXIe hybrid standard is established, it's not compatible with PXIe chassis' hybrid slot. It only could be used with PXI chassis. To solve this problem, National Instruments released PXI-6683H similar to PXI-6683. You could use PXI-6683H if you don't need unsupported features.

The following features are not supported by PXI-6683H, but only by PXI-6683. 
  • PXI star triggers
  • Routing PXI backplane 10 MHz clock with disciplined TCXO or with 10 MHz clocks(external) at CLKIN
