3D Graph in LabVIEW Causes Spike in Memory Usage

Issue Details

When I implement a 3D graph into my LabVIEW application to plot data, the memory used by LabVIEW increases rapidly (when monitoring in Windows Task Manager). Even after the VI has stopped, the memory usage continues to increase. Eventually, LabVIEW will crash.


This is a known issue when using the 3D Plots Property Node and setting Overlay to Lines. In order to prevent this rise in memory, change the Overlay property to Points or None. This should prevent the memory leak from occurring. An image of the property node is shown below:
