Issue Details

On a deployment computer, I have installed the LabVIEW Runtime and the full DAQmx driver. To run my executable program created with LabVIEW, I need to create DAQmx Tasks using NI MAX. When I try to create a new task, I get the following message in the DAQ Assistant: "This software application is not currently licensed. Without a registered license, you may not access many features available only in licensed versions."

Do I need a license to use the DAQ Assistant for task creation in NI MAX?

Solution

The DAQ Assistant can still be used even if no licensed development environment is installed. To create tasks using the DAQ Assistant, the NI-DAQmx full driver is required.
If you come across this message, you should tick the box that says "I understand and will comply with the licensing restrictions."
You can then click next and carry on using the DAQ Assistant and its features. Usually, it is recommended to close and reopen NI MAX after creating a task so that it works correctly with any additional software it might be interfacing with such as a LabVIEW application.

Additional Information

This message is a warning displayed when no development environment is detected to make sure that the license restrictions are understood considering that the DAQ Assistant and its features won't be used to their extent.
