NI License Manager Crashes When Trying Log in to Activate Software

Issue Details

Whenever I open NI License Manager and try to activate software a pop-up window is prompted asking me to Log In to Activate, but when I click on Log In my NI License Manager program crashes.

Solution

This error might be related to an issue with a local evaluation license sticking around longer than it should. To resolve this we want to perform the following steps:
  1. Go to the path C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\License Manager\Licenses folder and look for the lic file corresponding to the software in evaluation.
  2. Move the lic file out of the Licenses folder (do not delete it).

At this point, try again to activate the software through NI License Manager. If that doesn't work, please continue with the steps below:
  1. Go to NI License Manager and deactivate the software.
  2. Then, activate the software with an Offline Activation Code.
  3. Restart your computer.

Additional Information

It's important to understand if the issue is related to the NI License Manager program or a network connection issue. For that, open this URL in Internet Explorer (there's no need to log in) and confirm the URL is not being blocked, if it's blcoked then contact your IT department.

Also, it may be a good idea to remove NI License Manager, restart the PC and install License Manager again.
