Issue Details

I am using a touch panel computer and the issue is that after a few hours of running, the display will blank out. It can be turned back on by tapping the screen so it isn't powered off.

To resolve this issue there are 3 methods can be implemented. The first would be to configure the settings in the local group policy editor, an alternative would be to implement an example program in your LabVIEW application. The last and most simple option would be to adjust the power options within the control panel.

Configuring settings in the "Local Group Policy Editor"

The local group policy editor allows you to configure the settings so that the display does not turn off. This will stop the display from turning off and blanking out at any point.

1.  Search for and open the "Local Group Policy Editor"
Select Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System.

2.  Next complete the steps : Power Management > Video and Display Settings > Turn Off the Display, complete this for both "Plugged in" and "On Battery".

3. In order to activate this function, click on the setting, Configure it to enabled, and set the "Turn Off the Display (seconds) to "0".

Programmatically Preventing The Screen From Sleeping

This example program can be implemented into your LabVIEW application, it provides windows with a power availability request that essentially prevents the display from going to sleep.

Instructions for how this can be implemented are detailed in the article:

Configuring Power Options in Windows Embedded 7

1. Open Control Panel, Then navigate to Power Options >> Change Plan Settings.

2. From here adjust the settings for Turn off the display to "Never".
