Where do I find the file that contains the symbols %company in the Version Info?

Solution

For LabWindows™/CVI™ 2019 and Later:

You must change the NI.com account associated with the product through NI License manager on the computer. The account can be changed when activating a product.
  1. In NI License Manager click on the Local Licenses tab.
  2. Right click on the product you wish to modify and click Activate.
    • If it is already activated then you need to temporarily deactivate the software and reactivate it.
  3. In the top right of the pop-up window, click the email address that is displayed and click Log Out.
  4. A pop-up will prompt you to Log in using an NI account. Make sure to log in with the account which matches the company information you want to be displayed on the LabVIEW splash screen.
  5. Once you're logged in, launching LabVIEW will show the new information. Don't forget to reactivate any software you deactivated during this process.

For LabWindows™/CVI™ 2017 and Earlier:

You can change this infomation by doing the same as the steps above or you can change the company name in the userinfo.ini file.
  1. Make sure that the file exists, and that it has a [REGISTRATION] section, with a "CompanyName" tag within it.
  2. If it does exist, check also your splash screen to see if the company name appears in the top/left corner.
  3. Finally, if instead of %company, you type some arbitrary string for the company in the Version Info dialog
You can find this file in here: C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\CVI2017\bin\userinfo.ini

Additional Information

The %company is the company name that you entered during the LabWindows™/CVI™ installation
