Error -251723760 CIP Error When Connecting with a PLC

Issue Details

When I try to establish communication with a PLC through my cRIO, I get error

Error -251723760 
Details: CIP Error - Extended status may be available
Unable to connect to specified network path.

Why does this happen?

Solution

This error may be related to the network settings of the device.
In NI MAX, check the IP address by following the next steps:

1) Look for your device under Remote Systems
2) Open the Network Settings tab
3) If the IP address is set as Static, change it to DHCP or Link Local
4) Click on Save to save the changes made
