Issue Details

I have a system that currently utilizes the PXI-8512. Would it be possible to interchange this card with the PXI-8513 instead?

Solution

The PXI‑8512 is a high-speed Controller Area Network (CAN) Flexible Data-rate (FD) interface for developing applications with the NI‑XNET driver.

The PXI‑8513 is a software-selectable Controller Area Network (CAN) interface for developing applications with the NI‑XNET driver.

Essentially, the 8513 is capable of what the 8512 can do, as well as containing some additional features such as the low-speed/fault-tolerant CAN or being single wire software-selectable.

Be sure to check the device specifications for each card to determine further if it fits the needs of your application.
