Issue Details

I currently have ComponentWorks 3.0.1 with Visual Studio 6.0. I have been running these softwares on a Windows 7 computer for a while, but once I tried to download the software onto a different computer with Windows 7 it gave me an error saying Unable to Run the ComponentWorks Installer. How can I get around this?

Solution

ComponentWorks 3.0.1 is not officially supported on Windows 7. ComponentWorks 3.0.1 was released in 2001, succeeded by Measurement Studio 1.0 later that same year. By the time Windows 7 was released in 2009 ComponentWorks had already been replaced by Measurement Studio. The last version of Windows that supports ComponentWorks 3.0.1 is Windows 2000. Measurement Studio 2009 is the earliest version that is supported on a Windows 7 computer.

Measurement Studio 2009 is the last version to support Visual Basic 6.0.

Additional Information

Microsoft is officially ending support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020. It is recommended to upgraded to the latest versions of Windows and Measurement Studio if you are able.
