On the Browser tab, it shows the Install button instead of the Remove button. This is not the case for other software such as NI-DAQmx which shows the Remove button.

Solution

There are two types of product items that are supported in the NI Package Manager Products tab, those with a single store item, like NI-DAQmx, and those with multiple store items, like CompactRIO and Drivers, sometimes called a suite.

The Products tab behaves as follows depending on the type of item:

  • Single store item - the tab determines whether the item is installed. If installed, the tab shows a Remove button. If not installed, the tab shows an Install button. When a user initiates an installation, the user only gets one selection panel that lists the recommended/suggested packages available and not already installed.

  • Multiple store items - the tab does not try to determine which store items are installed, so the tab can only show an Install button. However, when a user initiates an installation, the user is always presented with two selection panels, the first panel selects which store or top-level items to install. If a store item is already installed, the item is already checked, and the user can select additional items to install. Once Next is selected, a selection panel lists the recommended/suggested packages available that are not already installed.
