Solution
The SystemLink Client Store and Forward feature has seen a large volume of support due to critical bugs in the feature. The main symptom is TestStand results not appearing on the server.
The issues were fixed in patches to the SystemLink Client. It is highly recommended that all customers upgrade to the patched version if using Store and Forward.
Checking Component Versions After Installing the Patch
Once a patched version is installed, use NI Package Manager (NIPM) to verify that all the “SystemLink” packages are updated:
- Open NIPM and navigate to the INSTALLED tab.
- Uncheck the Products Only checkbox.
- Click the Settings button (Gear icon at the top-right corner) and check the Show full version numbers and hidden packages checkbox.
- Search for “SystemLink” in the package list. Some packages, such as the python client packages, may be a minor version behind. The key packages that all must match in version are:

- NI SystemLink Forwarding Service
- NI SystemLink Test Monitor Store
- NI SystemLink File Store
- NI SystemLink Asset Utilization Support
Here is an example of an installation with incompatible versions. This system had errors running the forwarding service:

Fixing Packages Versions Mismatch After Installing the Patch
If your system has the discrepancies in versions as shown in the image above, please follow these steps:
- Back on the INSTALLED tab, with Show Products Only "unchecked", select all NI SystemLink Packages.
- Click UNINSTALL. After the whole process, reboot the computer.
- After the reboot, open NI Package Manager again and perform all the steps from the pervious section again. Make sure you see no SystemLink packages. if you do, perform steps 1 and 2 again. If not, proceed to step 4.
- Obtain the offline Installer for your version of SystemLink Client, including the most recent patch. Remember that major and minor versions must match or be older than the server version, as explained in the KB Version Compatibility Between SystemLink Server and Client.
- Extract the .iso file and click the install.exe
- Select the NI SystemLink Test Monitor Support for Teststand XXXX (YY-bit), where XXXX is your target TestStand version (e.g., 2021) and YY is the bitness (32 or 64).
- Reboot after the installation finishes.
- Open NI Package Manager again and make sure the versions match.
- At this moment, you need to make sure the client is connected to the server. Please refer to the KB Troubleshooting SystemLink Client Connection Issues if you have any issues.
- Open the "Services" window and confirm that the NI SystemLink Forwarding Service is running. This means that the results can now be forwarded to the server.
- Wait a few minutes and check the Test Insights page if your results are coming through.
