How to Remove Network License Setting from NI License Manager?

Issue Details

• I am currently using network license, but I want to use other type of licenses. How can I remove network license setting from my NI License Manager?
• I have removed network license setting but it is still remaining on NI License Manager. How can I remove it completely?

Solution

There are two different ways to point to a NI Volume License Manager server, and therefore two different places to look for the configuration to reach this server:

• NI License Manager: In NI License Manager, we can delete this configuration by:
  • Click on the Options Menu button on the top-left corner, to display the Preferences options.
  • Select "Manage Volume License Servers" option as shown:

• • In the Manage Volume License Servers window, delete the information of the current server pointed.

•  Windows Environment Variables: The IT department could have set a Windows environment variable to Point to the licensing server, these variables are available as an advanced option for those license administrators that get used to manage licenses with FLEXnet software using environment variables. FlexLM uses two different Environment Variables: NILM_LICENSE_FILE, LM_LICENSE_FILE.
  • Go to Start» Settings» Control Panel» System and Security» System» Allow remote access» Advanced. Or type "System Properties" in the Windows search bar.
  • Click on the "Environment Variables" bottom. 

• • The Environment Variable could be found in the system or user variables, depending on how it was set. But they will always be found as "NILM_LICENSE_FILE" or "LM_LICENSE_FILE" depending on the Initial configuration. The format of the environment variables is: PORT_NUMBER@SERVER_NAME where the PORT_NUMBER is optional if default is being used.

• • Once found delete the environment variable if only carries information to configure the NI license server, or click "EDIT" and edit the configuration, so it does not include the information to reach the NI license server, and once finished, click "OK"
  • Restart NI License Manager to see the changes applied.
