Where can I find the name of the cRIO controller chassis' Built-In USB Serial Port?

Solution

To find the VISA resource name for your cRIO's built-in USB ports and to be able to use them, follow the steps below:

  • Open NI MAX
  • Under the Remote Systems, select the cRIO controller and open the drop-down menu
  • Open the drop-down menu of the Devices and Interfaces section, where the USB ports can be found (ASRL1::INSTR, ASRL1::INSTR).
  • After selecting one of the USB ports, it is possible to configure and assign a name to it from the right side of the window of the NI MAX:

NOTE: Be sure to have the same version of the NI-VISA Driver both on the PC and the cRIO device.
