Issue Details

I would like to upgrade NI Vision Acquisition Software (VAS) to the latest version, but I am developing my application for Phar Lap ETS or VxWorks Real-Time OS. Does the latest version of VAS support targets with these operating systems?

Solution

The latest version of VAS no longer supports Phar Lap and VxWorks target. However, there is an exception for GigE Vision-compliant cameras which are still supported on LabVIEW Real-Time PXI systems running Phar Lap ETS OS. If you need to develop your application for Phar Lap or VxWorks targets, please use VAS 18.5.1, which is the last version that supports these targets. Note that VAS 18.5.1 contains NI-IMAQ 18.5, NI-IMAQdx 18.5, and NI-IMAQ IO 18.5.

Vision Acquisition Software 18.5.1 Software Installation

According to Vision Acquisition Software and LabVIEW Compatibility, VAS 18.5.1 supports LabVIEW 2015 to LabVIEW 2018 SP1. You must use compatible versions of LabVIEW and VAS to develop your application. After you install the required software on your Windows PC, you can then install VAS onto Phar Lap or VxWorks targets as shown below.

Additional Information

This issue affects PXIe-1435 module when used with Real-Time OS. As of January 2023, the latest version of VAS supports PXIe-1435 on Windows OS only. This module is not supported on NI LinuxRT OS, so you must use VAS 18.5.1 or older and install NI-IMAQ driver to the target to use this module. Please refer to this page for NI software and hardware compatibility.
