Issue Details

  • I am generating a voltage output on my PXIe-5164 PFI AUX connector but I'm measuring 1.5V instead of the expected 3.3V. Is my device broken?
  • Whenever I output a voltage on my PXIe-516X PFI line, the actual voltage is much lower than the expected voltage. Why is this happening?

Solution

The PFI output on the PXIe-516X is directly affected by the output load impedance. Ensure that the load impedance matches the output impedance specified in the Programmable Function Interface table in the respective specifications sheets: For example, the PXIe-5164 has a PFI output impedance of 50 Ω. If the load impedance is higher, the output voltage will drop.
If the load impedance matches the specified output impedance, contact NI Support.
