Can a SystemLink Server Machine Be Connected as a Client?

Issue Details

  • I have SystemLink Client installed on my server machine. Is it possible to establish a client connection from the server?
  • Is it possible to connect a client system where SystemLink Server is installed?

Solution

Yes, a server machine can be connected as a client using SystemLink Client. To do so:

1. Open SystemLink Client.
2. Select Connect to a SystemLink server.
3. Enter the server hostname in SystemLink Client and click Apply.
  • If the Apply button is greyed out or does not appear, change the value of the hostname, and then change it back.

4. Navigate to the server URL in a browser.
5. Select the Systems Manager tab and approve the client connection.
  • If the client connection appears as "Partially Connected" in SystemLink Client, select the client system from Systems Manager. Here, the system should appear as "Connected".
Note: connecting the server machine to itself as a client is not a comprehensive test of a connection. To verify that a real client can communicate with the server, try connecting a different machine.
