Issue Details

I removed all NI software from my system and I am now trying to install NI Package Manager using the executable downloaded from ni.com . When I run the setup file I get the following error:

Package is already installed. No operation will be performed.

How can I install the NI Package Manager in my system ?

Solution

This message generally appears when the system already has the same or a higher version of NI Package Manager installed. You can perform the below troubleshooting steps -
  1. Check whether your system still has NI Package Manager installed & its version by navigating to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features and looking for NI Package Manager. Uninstall NI Package Manager from Control Panel if you see a higher version in this list.
  2. If you cannot find NI Package manager in this list and still you are receiving this message, it could be due to an improper un-installation of NI Package Manager. To resolve this issue, please delete the NI Package Manager folder in the below directories -
    • C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\NI Package Manager
    • C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI Package Manager
  3. Once you have deleted both of these folders, please try re-installing NI Package Manager through the setup file. You should now be able to install NI Package Manager.
  4. In case this does not solve the issue, there may be a corrupted file on the Windows registry and a Windows (OS) restart may be needed.

Additional Information

It is advisable to Uninstall National Instruments Software or Drivers Using NI Package Manager.
