Error Code: 7 When Installing the Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit in JKI VI Package Manager

Issue Details

  • During the installation of the Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit, the JKI VI Package Manager reports the following error message: 
Main Package Name: Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit v15.0.3.43
Package Name with Error: Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit v15.0.3.43
Error Message: VIPM could not install the package ni_lib_tplat-15.0.3.43.
Error Code: 7
Error Source: Verschieben in PostInstall.vi<APPEND>
C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\Example Finder\1.0\Products\LabVIEW\23.1\exbins\english\lv2ptplatk.bin4

Solution

This error can occur when the VI Package is improperly attempting to write to C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\Example Finder\1.0\Products\LabVIEW\23.1 folder which does not normally exist. To fix this please follow the steps below. 
  1. Create the following folder manually:
C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\Example Finder\1.0\Products\LabVIEW\23.1\exbins\english
  1. Run the JKI VI Package Manager as administrator (Right-click on the VI Package Manager (VIPM) >> Run as Administrator).
  2. Re-attempt the installation of the Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit.
