Error 97 When Launching Calibration Executive

Issue Details

  • Whenever I launch Calibration Executive, I see error 97.
  • Calibration Executive is unusable because it reports the following error:
Error 97 occurred at Unknown System Error in <VI>
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: (Hex 0x61) A null or previously deleted refnum was passed in as an input.

Solution

This error can be caused by software conflicts, corruption or licensing issues. Follow the steps below to resolve this error:
  1. Ensure that your PC has a valid TestStand license.
  2. Ensure that TestStand is installed before Calibration Executive.
    1. Uninstall TestStand, Calibration Executive and any instrument drivers using the instructions in Uninstall NI Software or Drivers Using Package Manager.
    2. Reinstall the software in the following order:
      1. TestStand
      2. Instrument drivers (if applicable)
      3. Calibration Executive
    3. Once complete, restart the PC and verify that TestStand and Calibration Executive are properly licensed in NI License Manager.
  3. Determine whether the host PC meets the minimum requirements for Calibration Executive.
    1. View the Readme document and check the section titled System Requirements.
  4. If the problem persists, its likely that your software installation is corrupt. Try:
    • Uninstalling and reinstalling an NI software, including NI Package Manager. Refer to Uninstalling NI Package Manager .
    • Reimage the PC to ensure that all registries and file artefacts are wiped/reset.
