Indexing Network Drive With DIAdem's DataFinder

DataFinder is an indexing service that parses any custom file format for descriptive information (properties) and creates a database of the descriptive information within your data files. It is very common nowadays to store data in a network drive instead of in local drive. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to share with you how to have your DataFinder from DIAdem index your network drive.

  1. At This PC, select Map network drive2023-04-20_21h25_09.png
  2. A Map Network Drive window will appear. Insert your network drive path as a value for Folder parameter. 2023-04-20_21h03_36.png
  3. Click Finish.
  4. In your File Explorer, you will now be able to see the network drive you just added under This PC. 2023-04-20_21h04_29.png
  5. Launch DIAdem.
  6. Select Setting>>My DataFinder>>Configure2023-04-20_21h05_13.png
  7. In the Configure My DataFinder window, click Add Search Area icon. 2023-04-20_21h05_25.png
  8. In the Add Search Area window, click the Select a Folder icon2023-04-20_21h05_32.png
  9. In the Browse for Folder window, select the network drive you just added and click OK2023-04-20_21h05_55.png
  10. Observe that your Add Search Area window might looks like image below. You might having different value for Alias name and Path. Click OK.2023-04-20_21h06_23.png
  11. You might be getting the following warning window. Click OK2023-04-20_21h06_30.png
  12. Click OK to close the Configure My DataFinder window. 2023-04-20_21h06_40.png
  13. Observe that your network drive is now being indexed by your DataFinder. 2023-04-20_21h06_52.png
