Issue Details

  • I have installed the NI VeriStand 2023 Q1 and the "NI ECU Measurement and Calibration" Toolkit 2022 Q4. The installation of the toolkit should add the XCP or CCP Master Custom Device in the VeriStand Documents folder. But I cannot add the Custom Device to my VeriStand project and cannot find the source files in the appropriate folder on my PC. The same happens to other Custom Devices as well.
  • I recently upgraded to a new version of VeriStand. When I open my System Definition File, I get an error that my custom devices cannot be found.

Solution

Starting from VeriStand 2021, the NI-maintained Custom Devices (such as the Instrument Addon, Embedded Datalogger, or XCP or CCP Master custom devices) are installed in a separate Add-On package called "VeriStand Custom Devices". You can install this Add-On from NI Package Manager, by searching VeriStand Custom Devices or you can download it here.

This will add the Custom Devices mentioned in the Overview tab to the appropriate file directory and will make them available in the VeriStand project.

If you are using custom devices that you have built yourself or custom devices that are not maintained by NI, you will need to rebuild them from the source code for your current VeriStand version. Refer to the VeriStand Custom Devices Handbook for more information.

Additional Information

Custom Device libraries must be installed in the following directory: C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\NI VeriStand 20xx\Custom Devices. You can navigate to that location on your computer and ensure that custom device files are located there. For example, a computer with the VeriStand Custom Devices addon package installed would look like this:
