Use Connection Diagrams for NI-DAQmx Tasks

Connection diagrams provide a task‑specific wiring schematic that shows how to connect your DAQ hardware correctly. This document explains how to access connection diagrams using either Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) or the DAQ Assistant.

Access Connection Diagrams Using Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)

  1. Open Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
  2. Create or select an existing NI‑DAQmx Task.
  3. At the bottom of the MAX window, click the Connection Diagram tab next to the NI‑DAQmx Task tab:
  4. Review the automatically generated wiring schematic that appears. The diagram reflects the selected task and the associated hardware configuration. The figure below shows an example of an analog input voltage task using a PXIe-6363 with channel 0, an SCB‑68A terminal block, and a Non‑Referenced Single‑Ended configuration:

 

Access Connection Diagrams Using DAQ Assistant

  1. Open the DAQ Assistant and configure your data acquisition task.
  2. After completing the task configuration, select the Connection Diagram tab.
  3. Review the wiring schematic and terminal list shown for the configured task. The figure below shows a strain gauge wiring example using a PXIe-4339 with a TB-4339 terminal block, configured for a full‑bridge Type I strain gauge:
  4. (Optional) Click Save to HTML to generate an HTML file of the connection diagram. Use this file as a printed reference or offline wiring guide.
