Error -66400 Scan Engine Operation Failed When Deploying Code to RT Target

Issue Details

I am trying to deploy and run code on my Real-Time target, but receive the following error:

A scan engine operation failed because the NI Scan Engine was not yet started. Ensure that the VI is running on a controller with the NI Scan Engine installed.

This code runs correctly on my host computer.

Solution

This error is most commonly caused by the NI Scan Engine being either uninstalled or improperly installed on your remote target. You can install the NI Scan Engine to your target using NI MAX - the process to install software is described here. Ensure that one of the entries in the software stack you're trying to install is "NI Scan Engine X" depending on your software version.
