Issue Details

I'm using UFF58b (Universal File Format) files in my application. How can I perform I/O operations on these files using NI LabVIEW ?

Solution

UFF58b VIs, which are a part of LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolkit can be used to perform the required file I/O operations. There are separate APIs for creating a UFF58b file, writing data to it and closing the file reference.

You can use the example - Write Time Waveforms (UFF File).vi to get a hands on experience working with UFF58b files in NI LabVIEW.

Additional Information

Universal file format was initially developed in the later 1960s and early 1970 by the Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC) to standardize data transfer between computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided test (CAT) software packages.

There are two primary variants of UFF58 files - Binary and ASCII. If you wish to use NI LabVIEW for the ASCII variant of UFF58 files, refer to this help document.
