LIN Signals Being Distorted

Issue Details

  • My LIN interface is outputing a distorted signal
  • If I look at the signals produced by the LIN interface, the waveform looks as expected. However if I look at the signal after going through many feets of wire, it gets distorted.

For this issue there are different steps to try:
  • If your DUT is powered by a different power supply that is powering the LIN bus, make sure that grounds are being shared.
  • Ensure your hardware fulfills with Cabling Requirements for LIN.
  • Check that the power supply is giving enough current for the LIN Bus. When you get connected directly to the LIN Interface, the power supply could give enough power to the LIN bus, but when you get away from the LIN interface, the resistance of the cable gets higher and maybe the power supply is not giving enough power.

Additional Information

LIN cables require no resistance termination, as nodes are terminated at the transceiver.
