Issue Details

I need to use C for my Multisim project and need to install the HI-TECH 8051 C Compiler. However, when I try to run the installer from Multisim folder, I get the following error:
The file C:\Program Files (x86)\HI-TECH Software\HC51\9.60\bin\as51.exe cannot be written to - close any other applications that may be using it
How can I resolve this?

Solution

This issue occurs when the installer is not run using administrator rights as write access to Program Files folder is restricted to administrators.

To resolve this, close the already running installation, right-click the installer and select Run as administrator as shown below:
