Issue Details

I cannot activate LabVIEW or LabVIEW NXG 2020 Community Edition.
  • I can't activate LabVIEW Community Edition through "Check my account for licenses" when I open the software.
  • Why Is LabVIEW Community Edition still asking for an activation code, and how do I get the Community Edition?
  • LabVIEW Community Edition does not display a serial number under My Products in ni.com, as seen below.

Solution

The reason for any issues in the activation may be due to misalignment of the account using the Community Edition software. If you cannot activate your Community Edition software, there are steps that have worked in many cases for getting the adequate license for the Community Edition:

NOTE: Before downloading the LabVIEW Community installer, be sure you are logged with your NI account, if you don´t have a NI account, please create one first.

  • If you see a message which says that there is no related license with your account, please try to check if you use a network with IPv4. You can disable IPv6 setting from the network adapter setting.
  • If the software asks for an activation of the Professional Edition, log out of NI License Manager, then re-download LabVIEW Community Edition using the same User ID that you will use when logging into NI License Manager. Finally, launch and log into NI License Manager to reattempt activation.
  • If you were part of the LabVIEW Community Edition Beta Program and still see the Beta Access under My Products, you may need to create another NI Account with a different email address.
  • There is a known activation issue with LabVIEW 2024 Q1 Community Edition. If you are using this version and walked through the above steps and the issue is still present, download the previous version, LabVIEW 2023 Q3. Downloading it is enough to trigger the activation, you do not need to install it.
If you are still unable to activate LabVIEW Community Edition, please contact NI Support through the Service Request Manager. If you do not have a Support membership, you can select Get assistance with activation in the bottom section of that page to create a service request with this activation issue.

Additional Information

LabVIEW Community Edition add-ons display as in Evaluation in the Local Licenses tab, but are licensed under Product Summary tab in NI License Manager. The software is activated by the LabVIEW Community Edition license, but the individual licenses will not appear licensed separately.
