Issue Details

The PXIe-8240 Device Specifications state that this card offers two QSFP+ ports for 40GBASE-SR4 support. Does this card also support 40GBASE-LR4?

Solution

The PXIe-8240 does not support the 40GBASE-LR4 standard. Although the Intel XL710 chipset inside the PXIe-8240 technically supports 40GBASE-LR4, the PXIe-8240 hardware itself is limited to QSFP+ transceivers that support 40GBASE-SR4 only.

Additional Information

Short Range (SR) is for 100-150m, and Long Range (LR) is for 10 km and more.
