Issue Details

When users use an NI Switch board, they need to check the SPEC document of the corresponding board; in the Specification document, we often see the applicable frequency range of the board, so many users will guess that if the board is applied to signals outside the frequency band , will it have an impact?
Here I take PXIe-2542 as an example. According to the description of PXIe -2542 Specification , the frequency band used by PXIe-2542 is 10MHz~6.6GHz; when customers need Switch to be used in low frequency signal applications, such as inputting 10kHz low frequency signal in PXIe-2542 , then What will happen to the signal after passing through the Switch output?

Solution

First, let's check the hardware circuit diagrams of PXIe-2542 , as below picture

PXIe-2542 is mainly composed of IC:PE42552MLI chip, then the performance of PE42552MLI determines the performance index of PXIe-2542 ; we check the Datasheet of PE42552MLI and find the following information:

Therefore, the IIP3 indicator determines that if there is a low frequency signal passing through the Switch PXIe-2542 , there will be large harmonics or spurious existence, which will seriously affect the signal quality; therefore, it is not recommended that customers use the switch for out of frequency range in spec;
