Why There Is "Maximum" Input High Voltage for the Digital Input of PXIe-6363?

Issue Details

  • When we see the specification of PXIe-6363, there is maximum (5.25 V) and minimum (2.2 V)  for input high voltage. Is it possible to detect 10 V as logical high?
  • What is "Recommended Operating Conditions" for digital inputs in the specifications of PXIe-6363?

Solution

It can detect the input over 5.25 V as logical high while it is risking damage and/or reduced life of both the PXIe-6363 and the connected equipment. The device should not be operated outside of the 5.25V under normal operating conditions.

The operation outside of "Recommended Operating Conditions" could cause some damages or reduce lifetime of the device.
