The Create SubVI Function Is Not Working As Expected

  • I am using LabVIEW and when I try to create a SubVI in the Block Diagram by using Edit>Create SubVI the behavior gets buggy and even sometimes crashes my LabVIEW.

Solution

This could be caused due to a corruption in the script that creates SubVIs in LabVIEW. The file that does this functionality is [LabVIEW 20xx]\resource\plugins\lv_modifyNewSubVI.vi. To fix this, please try the solutions below.
  • Replace the folder in the path directory[LabVIEW 20xx]\resource\plugins\lv_modifyNewSubVI.vi. with a functional LabVIEW file from another computer.
  • If you don't have other computer with the same version of LabVIEW, or if the previous step doesn't work then reinstall LabVIEW. You can follow this guide on how to uninstall NI software.
