System Is Empty On NI Distributed System Manager

Issue Details

My Real-Time (RT) Target under Network Items shows up empty on the NI Distributed System Manager (NI DSM) when I click on "+" to expand it. However, I can connect to my RT target via Measurement & Automation Explorer (NI MAX) and LabVIEW.

How can I monitor my RT target via NI DSM?

Solution

To work around this behavior, try to add manually the RT target on the NI DSM under My Systems. To do this, follow the instructions below.

  1. Navigate to the Actions tab on the NI DSM window.
  2. Click Add System to My Systems...

3. A pop-up window will appear as shown below:

4. Here we have to write the IP address or hostname of the target
5. Click OK.
6. The RT target will appear under the "My Systems" with the expected information.

Additional Information

This behavior might be seen when connected via VPN as well.
