GPIB Built-In Interface Is Not Showing Up Correctly on NI MAX for My PXIe Linux RT Controller

Issue Details

I have a PXIe-8880 Linux RT controller, which has a built-in GPIB interface. When I check this interface on NI MAX, is not showing up correctly. The settings options are not available and slot 1 shows up as Built-in GPIB.

How can I access the test panels and all the settings available for this interface?

Solution

The GPIB built-in interface available in some Linux RT controllers as the PXIe-8880 requires the NI-488.2 driver. To access all the available features on this interface through NI MAX, you need to install the NI-488.2 driver on the controller. You can install this driver following the Installing Software on NI Linux Real-Time PXI Controllers guide. Once the driver is installed, your NI MAX should look like this:
